Nick Beckwith

Nick is a qualified Civil Engineer, with over 30 years’ experience in the construction and development industry where he has operated at board level for both developer and Engineering Consultancy. He began his Engineering career with a small consultancy practice before joining a large multi-disciplinary Engineering consultancy where he developed his varied Engineering experience and design skills, working with a number of major developers, which lead to the opportunity to join a national housebuilder.

Nick developed his career further with invaluable experience gained on the client side and was invited on to the board of Directors as Development Director where he led an inhouse team of Engineers and Architects as well as external consultants who were responsible for the technical delivery of all new residential schemes in the North-East of England.

After 8 years in house building, Nick returned to Engineering Consultancy with a small practice and was pivotal in developing and growing the business into a national multi-disciplinary Engineering Consultancy where he was once again invited on to the board of Directors as Director of Civils where he led a high performing Civils team before leaving to join Hill Cannon in May 2020 after 11 years.

In his first year at Hill Cannon, Nick started up a new Civils team in the Newcastle office achieving the ambitious growth plan over a 12-month period, with the team evolving into a standalone business, which has recently re-branded to Beckwith & Hanlon Consulting Engineers Limited.

Michael Hanlon

Michael is a qualified Civil Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the industry, working for both developer and consultant. He began his career as a design engineer for a large multi-disciplinary consultancy before making the switch to private developer, in which he served over 12 years in a busy House Building Technical Department, responsible for all aspects of delivery including initial site assessments and viability appraisals, management of external consultants, efficient site layout design, securing legal agreements, co-ordination of utility supplies and ensuring that all other internal stakeholders (Land, Commercial, Construction & Sales Departments) had accurate and up to date technical information.

Michael returned to engineering consultancy, where he used his experience to develop a regional, North-East team, which delivered all aspects of professional Civil Engineering services to a number of sectors including residential, commercial, retail, industrial, sport & leisure and education. This ultimately led to him being responsible for all technical aspects of civil engineering delivery for a number of regions across the country, after being invited to join the Board of Directors as Director of Civil Engineering.

Now with his feet firmly back in his home of the North-East, after joining Hill Cannon in 2021, Michael continues to work with long-standing clients alongside developing new clients as he strives to deliver strategic growth and investment for the recently re-branded Beckwith & Hanlon Consulting Engineers.
