Beckwith & Hanlon provided pre and post planning Civil, Structural and Geotechnical services for the development of 14 residential dwellings at the former (demolished) Neon Club in Jarrow, for Tandem Construction Ltd (on behalf of Places for People).
The development is made up of 2 and 3 bed semi-detached houses with private drives fronting onto existing adopted highway. This tightly constrained site delivered sustainable drainage by means of permeable driveways and attenuation storage crates to ensure that water quality form the development was treated, prior to entering the existing adopted combined sewer.
A detailed ground investigation was undertaken, to determine the nature of the ground conditions, so that any contamination could be dealt with in advance. In addition, the ground investigation identified a former basement area, which influenced the design of foundations in that area.
As these house types were new, Beckwith & Hanlon provided structural design associated with the supporting elements of the superstructure, including the provision of calculations in accordance with current Building Regulations.
