The proposed scheme relating to the North Siemens site, off Depot Road in Newcastle is a timber storage yard facility consisting of a new access junction, on site circulation road, parking area for cars and HGVs as well as hardstanding areas for storage racks.
Beckwith & Hanlon were appointed to provide Civil and Geoenvironmental Engineering services to satisfy planning conditions as well as providing sufficient Engineering design information to construct the new access junction and develop a detailed budget appraisal for developing the site. Works undertaken included an intrusive Ground Investigation to inform the design and identify any possible constraints/abnormals within the ground, Section 278 design of the new access junction as well as liaising with the Local Highway Authority to secure approval, horizontal and vertical alignment associated with the onsite private circulation road, proposed levels design for the hardstanding area and proposed surface water drainage design. Our involvement and support to the client to date has resulted in a significant pre commencement planning condition being discharged to allow the development to start in which to safeguard and implement the planning permission as well as securing a Section 278 approval for the access junction and assisting in selecting a contractor to undertake the works.
