Detailed engineering design in which to support Planning, Tender and Construction information on a private residential development of approximately 270 dwellings. The proposed development benefitted from outline planning permission and the scheme was being promoted by two major, volume house builders.

Beckwith & Hanlon provided full roads and drainage designs to adoptable standards, off-site Section 278 design adjacent to site entrance and frontage, proposed levels and external house drainage (plotworks), cut and fill earthworks exercise, piling platform design and foundation schedules.

Sustainable drainage solutions were delivered by incorporating roadside swales and attenuation basin to treat water quality leaving the development. This site also had a number of challenging, contributing factors in regards surface water drainage, with existing overland surface water flows being managed through and around the site, including taking into consideration a proposed noise attenuation bund on the southern boundary. Close liaison with the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) was required to ensure that a satisfactory outcome was agreed for the surface water drainage scheme.

Due to the complex ground conditions, a detailed foundation schedule was developed, to identify foundation types and in particular areas where piled foundations would be required. Consequently, a piling platform design was provided to ensure that the piling rig could be accommodated, and work safely whilst progressing pile installation.

Furthermore, a detailed cut and fill earthworks exercise was undertaken, which considered road and footway depths, building pad depths (including piling platform), main drainage (including swales and attenuation basin) and topsoil backfill thickness.

At present, this site is awaiting planning determination, prior to a construction start.
